Introduction: what the planets say about the stock market in 2027

Indian shares have had a hard year. The Nifty 50 made a record of about 26,370 on 5 January 2026. It then lost about 15% by the end of March, after the US and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February and crude oil went above $110 a barrel. On 8 October, the day after the RBI raised interest rates, the Nifty touched its 2026 low of 22,180. Since then a recovery has begun: on 5 November 2026 the Nifty closed at 24,537 and the Sensex at 79,310, after six straight days of gains, as crude fell back towards $94 and foreign investors returned. Every investor is now asking the same question: is the worst over, or is this a pause before another fall?
This article answers that question with Vedic mundane astrology (Medinī Jyotiṣa), month by month, from November 2026 to December 2027. Our overall conclusion: 2027 is a year of two halves. One more dip is likely between mid-January and early March 2027. The strongest rally of the year should follow from late March to May, when Jupiter is exalted and direct, and a new record high is possible in that window. A second, sharper correction is likely from June to September, after Saturn enters its debilitation sign Aries and the total solar eclipse of 2 August. Markets should recover into Diwali (29 October 2027), with a last risk window in late November and December.
The bullish case: an exalted Jupiter and a Mercury year
Jupiter, the planet of banks, wealth and confidence, returns to its exaltation sign Cancer on 25 January 2027 and stays there until 26 June. It turns direct on 13 April. The previous two times Jupiter sat in Cancer, in 2002–03 and 2014–15, Indian markets began or extended major bull runs. India’s own chart also improves: its Mars–Rahu sub-period ends on 24 February 2027, and the Mars–Jupiter sub-period that follows rules gains. From 7 April 2027 the new Hindu year, Samvat 2084, has Mercury as both king and minister. That is a classical signature of trade, commerce and technology taking the lead.
The bearish pressures: Saturn in Aries, Rahu in Capricorn, eclipses
Against this stand three heavy weights. Rahu moves into Capricorn on 5 December 2026 and stays there until June 2028. The last two times it did so (1989–91 and 2008–09), the world saw the Japanese bubble burst and the global financial crisis. Saturn enters Aries, its sign of debilitation, on 3 June 2027. The last two such transits brought India’s bank nationalisation in 1969 and the sanctions after the 1998 nuclear tests, and ended with the dot-com peak of 2000. And 2027 has two solar eclipses: an annular one in Capricorn with Rahu (6 February) and a total one in Puṣya (2 August).

Stock market today: where 2027 begins (5 November 2026)
The market enters this forecast after a bruising year. The key facts:
- Record and fall: the Nifty peaked at about 26,370 on 5 January 2026 and lost about 15% by the end of March, including 11% in March alone.
- War and oil: the US and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February 2026. Brent crude rose from about $72 to over $110 within two weeks and stayed near $114 for much of the year.
- Rates and money flows: foreign investors sold a record ₹1.2 lakh crore of Indian shares in March, and about ₹2.6 lakh crore by the end of September. The US Federal Reserve raised rates in September, and the RBI raised rates on 7 October, its first hike since early 2023.
- The low: on 8 October the Nifty fell to an intraday low of 22,180, its lowest of 2026, and closed at 22,232.
- The recovery: by 5 November the Nifty was back at 24,537 (up 2.4% that day) and the Sensex at 79,310. Brent had fallen to about $94 after the US mid-term elections raised hopes of a negotiated end to the Iran conflict. Foreign investors bought ₹7,284 crore on 4 November, their biggest single-day purchase in nearly three years. The rupee stood near ₹94.5 to the dollar.
Astrologically, the 2026 shock has a clear signature. Saturn and Neptune met exactly in Pisces on 21 February 2026, one week before the attack on Iran. This conjunction comes once in about 36 years and starts a new cycle in money, oil and belief. The last one, in 1989, came months before the Japanese stock bubble burst. Our January 2024 article had flagged this conjunction as a source of “economic upheaval and inflation”. The theme was right, though we placed it a year too early.
Our 2024 forecast: what came true
Before trusting any forecast, check its record. In January 2024 we published Stock Market Trend of 2024 and the Impact of Uranus, Neptune and Saturn. Its main calls and the outcomes:
- “The trend changes from about 19 January”: the Nifty peaked at 22,124 on 16 January 2024 and fell 2.1% the next day, the market’s worst day in a year and a half. Correct.
- “Sharp volatility and a possible free fall in April–June”: on 4 June 2024 the Nifty fell 5.9%, its worst day since 2020. Correct, though the market recovered fast.
- “Aggressive growth in gold and silver”: gold rose more than 26%, its best year since 2010. Correct.
- “War risk in March–April”: Iran made its first direct attack on Israel on 13 April 2024. Correct.
- Missed: the record high of September 2024 and the 10% fall that followed.
The lesson: planetary turning points time the shocks well, but the direction after each shock depends on money flows and policy. This forecast is built the same way, with zones and turning dates rather than a single target.
Method: how this forecast is built
All positions are sidereal (Lahiri ayanāṃśa), in Indian Standard Time, with mean nodes for Rahu and Ketu. The forecast combines five layers:
- Slow planets and their signs: Jupiter (banks, credit, confidence), Saturn (contraction, discipline, labour), Rahu and Ketu (speculation, sudden shocks), and the outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto for global cycles.
- Stations and sign changes: markets often turn within days of a planet turning retrograde or direct, or changing sign. These give the turning dates.
- Eclipses and the nakṣatras they fall in.
- India’s independence chart (15 August 1947, 00:00, Delhi; Taurus ascendant) and its Vimśottarī daśā.
- Historical analogues: what markets did the last times the same transits occurred.
The Nifty zones are anchored to the 5 November 2026 close. They reflect how far the market has moved in comparable past phases, not a mechanical formula.
The year-lords: Samvat 2083 and Samvat 2084
The Hindu lunar year sets the tone through its king (Rājā) and minister (Mantrī). Samvat 2083 (to 6 April 2027) has Jupiter as king and Mars as minister. Jupiter promises recovery and support for finance, but Mars as minister keeps war, oil and defence in the headlines. That fits the year of the Iran conflict.
Samvat 2084 begins on 7 April 2027 with Mercury as both king and minister. Mercury rules trade, commerce, brokers, communication and information technology. A double-Mercury year favours exporters, IT and services, financial intermediaries and new listings. It also brings quick, nervous trading: the market reacts faster to news, and rumours move prices. Mercury’s own retrograde periods (see below) become more important in such a year.
The seven planetary themes for markets, November 2026 – December 2027
1. The new Saturn–Neptune cycle (exact 21 February 2026)
Saturn (structure, scarcity) and Neptune (oil, liquidity, illusion) met at 6° Pisces in Uttara Bhādrapadā on 21 February 2026. Neptune is the natural ruler of oil, gas and liquidity, so it is no surprise that this year’s crisis is an oil shock. The effects of such a conjunction run for two to three years, and Saturn stays in Pisces close to Neptune until June 2027. Expect oil prices to remain the main swing factor for Indian shares through the first half of 2027. Neptune turns direct on 13 December 2026 and retrograde on 10 July 2027; both dates are sensitive for crude.
2. Jupiter: over-fast, then exalted in Cancer (25 January – 26 June 2027)
Jupiter is in an aticārī (over-fast) phase. It entered Leo early on 31 October 2026, turns retrograde on 13 December at 2°47′ Leo, falls back into its exaltation sign Cancer on 25 January 2027, turns direct on 13 April at about 22° Cancer, and returns to Leo on 26 June. It then moves into Virgo on 26 November 2027. Each crossing of the Cancer–Leo junction (gaṇḍānta) is a sensitive date for banks and financials.
Exalted Jupiter is the main bullish force of 2027. The record of Jupiter in Cancer is striking:
- July 2002 – August 2003: the long bear market that began in 2000 ended, and the great Indian bull run of 2003–2008 began. The Sensex bottomed below 3,000 in April 2003.
- June 2014 – July 2015: the post-election rally carried the Nifty to a record of about 9,119 on 4 March 2015. The fall began after Jupiter left Cancer, with the August 2015 crash.
- July 1990 – August 1991: India’s balance-of-payments crisis was met with the economic reforms of July 1991, which launched the 1991–92 boom.
Jupiter’s direct station on 13 April 2027 is therefore the single most bullish date of the year.
3. Rahu in Capricorn and the Rahu–Pluto conjunction (30 November 2027)
Rahu enters Capricorn on 5 December 2026 and stays until 24 June 2028, with Ketu in Cancer. Capricorn is Saturn’s sign, the sign of institutions, governments and large balance sheets. Rahu there inflates them, then exposes them. Its past visits are sobering:
- 1971–72: the end of the dollar’s link to gold (August 1971).
- 1989–91: Japan’s stock bubble peaked on 29 December 1989 and then collapsed; the Gulf War of 1990 sent oil prices soaring.
- 2008–09: the global financial crisis, from the fall of Lehman Brothers (15 September 2008) to the market bottom of March 2009.
In 2027 Rahu moves towards Pluto, the planet of debt, hidden power and collapse, which sits at about 11° Capricorn in Śravaṇa. Rahu enters Śravaṇa on 10 April 2027 and meets Pluto exactly on 30 November 2027. This is a warning for credit markets, leveraged institutions and government debt in late 2027. Meanwhile Ketu sits with exalted Jupiter in Cancer from January to June 2027. That gives Jupiter’s support a sudden, detached quality: rallies can start without warning and end the same way.
4. Saturn enters debilitation in Aries (3 June – 20 October 2027)
Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries on 3 June 2027, turns retrograde on 10 August at 3°38′ Aries, falls back into Pisces on 20 October and turns direct on 25 December. In Aries, Saturn is debilitated (nīca): discipline weakens, costs rise and governments act in haste. From Aries, Saturn also casts its tenth-house aspect on Rahu in Capricorn, joining the two strongest malefics of the year.
Saturn’s last stays in Aries:
- March 1969 – April 1971: India nationalised fourteen major banks on 19 July 1969, and the US market fell about a third between late 1968 and mid-1970.
- April 1998 – June 2000: sanctions followed India’s nuclear tests in May 1998, and the hedge fund LTCM collapsed in September 1998. The period ended with the dot-com peak (Nasdaq top on 10 March 2000) and the crash that followed.
The pattern points to stress in banking and state-owned companies, policy surprises and the end of speculative manias. In 2027 Saturn’s stay is short (about four and a half months). It returns in February 2028 for a longer stay to 2030, so June–October 2027 is a first warning rather than the full effect.
5. Mars retrograde, debilitated Mars with exalted Jupiter (January – April 2027)
Mars, the planet of energy, oil, defence and real estate, turns retrograde on 11 January 2027 at 16° Leo. It falls back into Cancer, its sign of debilitation, on 10 March, turns direct on 2 April at about 27° Cancer, and returns to Leo on 26 April. Between 10 March and 26 April, debilitated Mars, exalted Jupiter and Ketu are all together in Āśleṣā nakṣatra, the serpent star.
A debilitated planet joined by an exalted one forms a nīca-bhaṅga (cancelled debilitation): a weak start that turns into strength. For markets, this reads as a war or oil scare in March that turns into a rally by April. Āśleṣā adds a warning about manipulation, fraud and insider dealing, so expect regulatory action in this period.
6. Mercury: three retrograde periods in a Mercury year
Mercury turns retrograde three times in 2027:
- 10 February – 4 March (Aquarius back into Capricorn): around the Budget and the annular eclipse.
- 11 June – 5 July (in Gemini, its own sign): together with Saturn’s move into Aries.
- 8 – 29 October (Libra back into Virgo): just before Diwali.
In a year ruled by Mercury, these windows matter more than usual. Expect trading glitches, data and results surprises, IPO delays and sharp swings in IT shares. They are better used for research than for large new positions.
7. Eclipses, combustions and Uranus
- 6 February 2027: annular solar eclipse at 23° Capricorn in Dhaniṣṭhā, with Rahu. This is a strong signature for government finance and the Union Budget season.
- 21 February, 18 July and 17 August 2027: penumbral lunar eclipses (minor).
- 2 August 2027: total solar eclipse at 15° Cancer in Puṣya, the nakṣatra of nourishment, wealth and stable institutions. This is the most important eclipse of the year for markets. Puṣya is closely linked with India’s chart, which has its stellium in Cancer.
- Combustion: Venus is combust from 7 July to 18 September and Jupiter from 16 August to 15 September 2027. With both wealth planets weakened at the same time, late August to mid-September is the weakest stretch of the second half.
- Uranus stays in Taurus (Kṛttikā–Rohiṇī) all year. It turns direct on 9 February and retrograde on 16 September 2027. Uranus in Taurus disrupts banking, currencies and payments: digital currencies, stablecoins and new payment systems will keep reshaping finance.
India’s chart in 2027: Mars–Jupiter period and Ketu over the Cancer planets
India’s independence chart has a Taurus ascendant and a cluster of planets in Cancer (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn). India is running the Mars major period (mahādaśā), 7 September 2025 – 7 September 2032.
- Mars–Rahu sub-period, to 24 February 2027: Rahu is the planet of sudden shocks and foreign influence. Its sub-period coincides with the 2026 war, oil shock and record foreign selling.
- Mars–Jupiter sub-period, 24 February 2027 – 31 January 2028: for a Taurus ascendant, Jupiter rules the 11th house of gains (and the 8th of sudden events). Running while Jupiter is exalted, this is a far better period for markets and the economy, though not without shocks.
- Ketu transits over the Cancer planets: Ketu passes exactly over India’s natal Sun (12 January 2027), Venus (24 April 2027), Saturn (3 June 2027) and Mercury (9 October 2027). These are sensitive dates for government (Sun), consumption and luxury (Venus), labour and the old economy (Saturn), and trade and IT (Mercury).
- Saturn’s transit: Saturn moves through India’s 11th house (Pisces, gains) until June 2027, which supports earnings and income. It then enters the 12th house (Aries, losses and foreign outflows) from June to October. This matches the forecast of a strong first half and a weaker second half.

Nifty and Sensex prediction month-wise: November 2026 to December 2027
The zones are for the Nifty 50. For the Sensex, multiply by about 3.23 (the ratio on 5 November 2026).
November 2026: relief rally (23,900 – 25,300)
Mercury turns direct on 14 November and Venus on 15 November, and Mars joins Jupiter in Leo on 16 November. Together with falling crude and returning foreign money, these support the current recovery. Diwali Muhurat trading on 8 November falls in this positive phase. Gains should hold through most of the month, but India is still in its Mars–Rahu sub-period, so news from West Asia can reverse moves quickly.
December 2026: the turn (23,300 – 25,000)
Early December carries the rally’s last leg. Then three events cluster: Rahu enters Capricorn on 5 December, Saturn turns direct on 11 December, and Jupiter turns retrograde and Neptune direct on 13 December. Such a cluster of stations usually marks a turning point, and with Jupiter retrograde the turn is likely down. Kharmas begins on 16 December. Book some profits in early December.
January 2027: pressure, then support (22,600 – 24,600)
Mars turns retrograde on 11 January, Ketu crosses India’s natal Sun on 12 January, and the Sun joins Rahu in Capricorn from 14 January. Expect policy and fiscal worries before the Budget. Jupiter’s re-entry into exalted Cancer on 25 January should bring support for banks in the last week.
February 2027: the likely bottom (22,300 – 24,300)
This is the most testing month of the first half. The Budget comes on 1 February and the annular solar eclipse with Rahu on 6 February. Mercury turns retrograde on 10 February. A retest of the October 2026 low (around 22,200–22,500) is possible. From 24 February India enters its Mars–Jupiter sub-period; the market should start building a base in the last week.
March 2027: recovery with a scare (22,800 – 24,800)
Mercury turns direct on 4 March, which often marks the end of a correction. On 10 March debilitated Mars joins exalted Jupiter and Ketu in Āśleṣā, which may bring an oil or war scare and sharp intraday swings. The underlying trend should turn upward, helped by year-end institutional buying.
April 2027: strongly bullish (24,000 – 26,000)
This is the best month of the year. Mars turns direct on 2 April, Samvat 2084 begins on 7 April under Mercury, Jupiter turns direct in exaltation on 13 April, and the Sun is exalted from 14 April. Expect strength in banks, financials, IT and consumer names. Ketu crosses India’s natal Venus on 24 April, so luxury and auto stocks may lag.
May 2027: peak zone; book profits late in the month (25,000 – 26,800)
Exalted, direct Jupiter keeps the trend up, and a new all-time high above 26,370 is possible in this window. Pluto turns retrograde on 9 May. Late May is the time to take profits, before Saturn changes sign.
June 2027: correction begins (24,300 – 26,200)
Saturn enters debilitated Aries on 3 June, the same day Ketu crosses India’s natal Saturn. Mercury turns retrograde on 11 June, and Jupiter leaves Cancer on 26 June. Expect the start of a correction led by PSU banks, metals and real estate.
July 2027: range-bound and nervous (23,800 – 25,500)
Venus becomes combust on 7 July, Neptune turns retrograde on 10 July, and a penumbral lunar eclipse falls on 18 July. Quarterly results will drive individual stocks, but the index should move sideways to lower, with crude prices again in focus.
August 2027: the sharpest fall of the second half (23,000 – 25,000)
The total solar eclipse in Puṣya on 2 August, Saturn’s retrograde station in Aries on 10 August, Ketu’s entry into Puṣya on 14 August and Jupiter’s combustion from 16 August make this the most dangerous month of 2027. A fall of 7–10% from the May highs is possible. Keep leverage low.
September 2027: bottoming, an accumulation zone (23,000 – 24,800)
Jupiter stays combust until 15 September and Venus until 18 September; Uranus turns retrograde on 16 September. The second low of the year should form in the first half of the month. Once Jupiter is visible again after 15 September, quality stocks can be accumulated for the festive season.
October 2027: festive recovery (23,800 – 25,600)
Mercury is retrograde from 8 to 29 October and crosses India’s natal Mercury on 9 October, so the first half is choppy. Saturn’s return to Pisces on 20 October brings relief, and the recovery should carry into Diwali on 29 October. Our central zone for Diwali 2027 is 24,800–25,600.
November 2027: rotation, then a warning (24,200 – 25,800)
Jupiter enters Virgo on 26 November, favouring services, healthcare and analytics over banks. Rahu meets Pluto exactly on 30 November in Śravaṇa: the main risk date of the year’s end, for credit markets, leveraged companies and government debt worldwide.
December 2027: volatile year-end (23,800 – 25,600)
Rahu enters Uttarāṣāḍhā on 18 December, Saturn turns direct on 25 December, and Mars joins Rahu in Capricorn on 27 December. Expect a volatile close to the year, with the effects of the Rahu–Pluto conjunction still unfolding.

World markets, crude oil and the rupee
- United States: the Saturn–Neptune cycle and Rahu in Capricorn point to a debt-and-liquidity story in 2027, with the US Federal Reserve caught between inflation and growth. The first half should be steadier than the second. Late November 2027 (Rahu–Pluto) is the main global risk date.
- Crude oil: Mars and Neptune govern oil. Watch for spikes in March–April 2027 (debilitated Mars in Cancer) and around Neptune’s stations (13 December 2026 and 10 July 2027). For India, crude remains the single most important outside factor.
- The rupee: near ₹94.5 to the dollar now. Expect pressure in the first quarter of 2027 and again from June to September, when Saturn is in India’s 12th house of foreign outflows.
- Gold: exalted Jupiter favours gold in the first half; see the gold forecast for month-wise levels.

Practical tips for investors in 2027
- Use the dips, avoid leverage: the two low zones (February–early March and August–September) are where long-term investors can add through SIPs or staggered buying.
- Book partial profits in late May, before Saturn enters Aries on 3 June.
- Be careful with PSU banks and state-owned companies from June to October. Saturn’s past stays in Aries brought nationalisation and sanctions shocks.
- Avoid fresh F&O positions around eclipses (6 February and 2 August) and on the exact station days in the calendar.
- Watch crude oil above all. When Brent rises sharply, Indian shares fall; the planets for oil (Mars, Neptune) are active in March–April and July.
- Use astrology to time decisions, not to replace analysis. Combine it with valuations, results and your own risk limits.
Frequently asked questions: stock market astrology 2027
Will the stock market go up in 2027?
The planets point to a year of two halves. After one more dip in February, the strongest rally should come from late March to May 2027, with a possible new record. A second correction is likely from June to September. Diwali 2027 should see the Nifty near 24,800–25,600, modestly above today’s level.
When will the Nifty bottom?
The likely low zone is mid-January to early March 2027, centred on February, when the annular eclipse with Rahu (6 February) and Mercury’s retrograde (10 February – 4 March) coincide. A second, higher low is likely in the first half of September 2027.
Will the Nifty make a new all-time high in 2027?
Possibly, in late April or May 2027. Jupiter is exalted and turns direct on 13 April, India enters its Mars–Jupiter sub-period, and the Sun is exalted. The record to beat is about 26,370 (5 January 2026).
What does Saturn in Aries mean for the stock market?
Saturn is debilitated in Aries, from 3 June to 20 October 2027 and again from February 2028. Its past stays brought India’s bank nationalisation (1969), the US bear market of 1969–70, and sanctions and the LTCM crisis in 1998, ending with the dot-com peak of 2000. Expect stress in banks, state-owned companies and speculative stocks.
How does Rahu in Capricorn affect markets?
Rahu was last in Capricorn in 1989–91 (Japan’s bubble burst) and 2008–09 (the global financial crisis). From 5 December 2026 to 24 June 2028 it again puts large institutions and debt under strain. The risk peaks when Rahu meets Pluto on 30 November 2027.
Which sectors look best in 2027?
Banks and financials in February–May, IT and services after 7 April (Samvat 2084 is a Mercury year), FMCG and pharma as defensives in the first half, and defence and capital goods while Saturn is in Aries from June to October.
When is Muhurat trading in 2027?
Diwali falls on 29 October 2027, and Muhurat trading is held on Diwali. The exchanges announce the exact timing a few weeks before.
Is this forecast financial advice?
No. It is a Vedic mundane-astrology study. Use it alongside financial analysis and consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser before investing.
Conclusion: a strong spring and a testing autumn
2027 opens under the shadow of the 2026 oil shock and Rahu’s move into Capricorn, and it closes under Rahu’s meeting with Pluto. Between the two lies the brightest planetary window in several years: exalted, direct Jupiter in April and May, in a Mercury year, during India’s Mars–Jupiter period. Investors who buy in the February low, take profits in late May and stay light through August will be working with the planets rather than against them.
