KALA SARPA YOGA & EDUCATION AS PER NADI ASTROLOGY
ॐ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः
With the Blessings of Acharya Madhva,my Kula Devatha,my Ishta Devatha and my Nadi Guru Shri R.G.Rao,I would like to explain about Kala Sarpa Yoga & education in Nadi Astrology.
We know as per traditional Astrology,Kala Sarpa Yoga is formed by the placement of all planets within Rahu-Ketu axis. Some scholars mention about 12 types of Kala Sarpa Yoga based on different positions of Kala Sarpa Yoga from Lagna. In some books it is mentioned that if Rahu /Ketu is placed with 5th/9th house lord or with Kendra Lords, then it gives sudden Raja Yoga during the Dasa/Antar Dasa of such planets.Except this condition, other placements of planets within Rahu-Ketu axis are termed as bad with difficulties in life.In such ancient books,it is also mentioned that if all the planets are within Rahu-Ketu axis then it is called as Kala Sarpa Yoga and if all the planets are within Ketu-Rahu axis, then it is called as Kalamrita Yoga.Anyhow both Yogas are termed bad and the native will experience difficulties in his/her life. But if any one planet has more longitude than Rahu/Ketu ,then it breaks Kala Sarpa Yoga.
But in Rao’s system of Nadi Astrology,we are not considering any Lagna.Instead we consider all the planets within Rahu-Ketu or Ketu-Rahu axis for Kala Sarpa Yoga. But to have such kind of Kala Sarpa Yoga, the planets must be related to Rahu or Ketu ie.,from Rahu, there must be a planet in the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th 7th from him.Similar is the case from Ketu also.
Now I was doing some research on this from past 15 years and about 13 years before I got a client and she wants her son’s education line has to be analysed she sent an email regarding this on March,6th,2006.When my client called me for this analysis, her son was studying in 6th standard. But when I saw his chart,I got surprised as all the planets are hemmed between Ketu-Rahu axis but I found the most important planets Jiva Karaka,Atma Karaka and Karma Karaka are in such a strong place, nothing bad will happen to him in his education or his future life ,rather he will get reward during his studies.
Now let us study his chart in detail. This is a male chart and was born in a western country. Now look at the Rahu-Ketu axis, and there are no planets at all and all the planets are within Ketu-Rahu axis.Even Chandra who is with Rahu is in the clutches of Rahu.

Kaal sarpa Kala Sarpa Yoga & Education as per nadi astrology

As both Ketu and Rahu are retrograding, from Ketu, the 2nd house is occupied by Shani and Shukra in Kumbha Rashi,Kuja and Budha ( R ) is Makara Rashi,Surya + Guru in Dhanu Rashi in 4th house from Ketu and finally Chandra in 7th house from Ketu.Let me keep the Jiva Karaka Guru aside and analyse from Rahu.Rahu is with Chandra, the Karaka for mother.Rahu is in trine to Vidya Karaka Budha ( R ) and Kuja, the Karaka for skills. Also from Ketu, both Budha ( R ) and Kuja are in 11th house. When Ketu is involved with Karaka for education,it is directly related to hospital as Ketu is in 12th house if we consider natural zodiac. Now both Dhanu Rashi and Meena Rashi are lorded by Guru and he is placed in his Moola Trikona Sthana of Guru along with Surya. So here Surya also becomes more stronger by associating with Guru and both will have a connection with Ketu. This is simply because both Rashis are lorded by Guru,so Surya + Guru + Ketu are in conjunction. Now Rahu with Chandra are in trine to Kuja + Budha (R) in Makara Rashi. Now Chandra is blood circulation,Rahu is poisonous medicines ( which we call as allopathic medicines ) ,Kuja is blood ,Shastra Karaka and skills through the hands and,Budha, the intelligence. Here as Budha ( R) is aspecting its previous house of Dhanu Rashi he becomes associated with both Surya + Guru. Thus Budha ( R) becomes more stronger. So I predicted to his mother that he will study medicines but he will move towards East or South-East from where he is born.I also told his mother that he is a genius boy and will get rewards during his studies. As the planets involved are mainly Surya + Guru  ( East direction ) and Kuja + Budha ( R) ( South direction ) and as all these planets are within Ketu-Rahu axis,he will move out of the country where he is born and move to a country where Sanatana Dharma is in existence which is none other than our Hindustan. His mother got surprised and said to me that they don’t have any plan to migrate back to India. But I said after looking to the planetary transits, all will move to India and he will study in India only.
Ketu is the planet representing hospitals placed in Meena Rashi which is also called as Devaloka whose Lord Guru is in his Moola Trikona Rashi of Dhanu. With Guru, there is Surya and Budha ( R) in Makara Rashi whom we have to consider from his previous house of Dhanu Rashi. So he has a combination of Guru + Surya+ Budha ( R ) + Ketu. This kind of planetary combination indicates a Vedic place which is India itself. There are no planets in Rahu-Ketu axis which clearly tells us that the native will move out of his birth country when progressed Jiva Karaka Guru touches Rahu + Chandra which was his 10-11th year and it was decided by the fate to contact me to do the analysis of this native boy.It was 31st of May 2006 and she called me when I was in Kuwait, that they are moving back to India and also to Bangalore.Let us look at the planetary configurations on this day.
Now look at the transit Rahu-Ketu axis.Rahu was in Meena Rashi and Ketu was in Kanya Rashi which is just opposite in his natal chart. In his natal chart,Jiva Karaka Guru + Pitru Karaka Surya are in Dhanu Rashi,so we can conclude that transit Rahu has a link with his natal Guru + Surya which clearly indicates that this male native along with his father will move to India. Also please look at the longitude of natal Jiva Karaka Guru which is Dhanu 8 Degrees 33’ and transit Rahu was at Meen Rashi 7 Degrees 3’,which means Rahu is forcing Jiva Karaka Guru to move from the place of birth. Also if we check his progressed Jiva Karaka Guru,it will be in Kanya Rashi and Chandra + Rahu are posited there.Chandra means movement and Rahu means foreign country,so a complete change of Rahu-Ketu alignment over his Chandra + Rahu indicates he will be migrated to India where Kanya Rashi indicates southern direction. His natal Rahu has a Drishti on Simha Rashi as he will be moving to his next Rashi and natal Guru + Surya are in trine to this east directioned Rashi. So it becomes South-East direction from where he was born.

transit chart Kala Sarpa Yoga & Education as per nadi astrology
After moving to India and Bangalore, the mother of the male native called me around 4 years before that as I predicted her son got admission into Medical sciences. She also told me that the CET board has given 3 options to choose the medical college. She asked me whether it is possible to predict to which medical college her son will join.I said “ the native’s Vidya Karaka Budha’s placement is in Makara Rashi 9 Degs.56’ along with exalted Kuja who is in Makara 10 Degs.21’But there is no Graha Yuddha as Budha is retrograde. This Budha ( R ) + Kuja are in trine to Chandra + Rahu in Kanya Rashi.Budha (R ) is connected to Dhanu Rashi where both Guru + Surya are placed. Also in Guru’s another Rashi of Meen, there is Ketu,so a combination of Guru + Surya +Budha ( R )+ Ketu has taken place. Now Ketu in Meen Rashi lorded by Guru indicates the institution must be a religious one and as Budha ( R ) with Guru + Surya are in Dhanu Rashi, the medical institute must have a statue of a Guru in front of the college. After this prediction, mother and son both went to all the 3 institutes and one institute called KEMS Medical College has the statue of Shri Raghavendra Swami Ji of Mantralaya and both were very happy about my analysis and took admission there and completed his medical studies. As Surya is very strong in the chart along with Guru in his Moola Trikona Sthana,I told his mother that your son is a genius one and will complete the studies before the time and he will be rewarded by a prestigious institution. When his 3rd year of Medical studies completed, the F.R.C.S in London invited him along with his parents for a special speech by the native. The professors and students there got stunned by his speech and awarded him with a special certificate and told that his M.D.studies will be sponsored by them if it is in London or anywhere in the world. So he completed his M.B.B.S.this year with a very high ranking.

Then he sit for the entrance exam.for M.D.Now recently his mother contacted me and asked me which kind of higher studies he can do and where ? Here is my analysis and answer. In the whole chart, both Guru and Surya are powerful and out of that Surya is most powerful and he is the karaka for children ( male ) and in opposite direction ( West ),there are Shukra + Shani. As Shukra is with Shani,Shukra becomes also very powerful as he is going to enter the Rashi of his exaltation. Shukra is the Karaka for female children. So I told the mother that her son will go for M.D. in Pediatrics and mother said as he got into Pediatrics. Now again the question of selection of Medical College. Here now both Guru +Surya+ Budha ( R ) are in east direction and both Shukra + Shani are in Kumbha Rashi in West Direction.Shukra indicates as per Sanskrit Kama and Shani indicates ancient and Surya indicates eyes.Ketu in linking with Shani indicates that the place where this native has to study is a very ancient one and a famous Kama + Akshi ie., Kamakshi Temple is there which is none other than Kanchipuram. His mother got completely surprised and asked me that such secrets also can be told as per Nadi Astrology and I replied yes but for that Tarka ( Logic ) and intuition from Ishta Devatha is required. So as per my analysis the male native is going to Kanchipuram Medical Institute for M.D.in Pediatrics.
The above is only a real life example to show that we can predict many secrets through Rao’s  System of Nadi Astrology.

BHAKTI YOGA AS PER NADI ASTROLOGY
       By H.Ramadas Rao
ॐ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः
With the Blessings of my Kula Guru Acharya Madhva, my Kula Devatha, My Ishta Devatha and Nadi Guru Shri R.G.Rao,I am going to write about BHAKTI YOGA as per NADI ASTROLOGY principles. To explain this I have taken the chart of Shri Prabhupada.
What is Bhakti Yoga?
There is a small chapter stresses the super-excellence of the path of loving devotion over all other types of spiritual practices.  It begins with Arjun asking Shree Krishna whom He considers more perfect in Yog—those who are devoted to the personal form of God or those who worship the formless Brahman.  Shree Krishna responds by declaring that both paths lead to God-realization.  However, He regards the devotees of His personal form as the best yogis.  He explains that meditation on the impersonal unmanifest aspect of God is full of tribulations and is exceedingly difficult for embodied beings.  But devotees of the personal form, with their consciousness, merged in Him and all their actions dedicated to Him, are swiftly delivered from the cycle of life and death.  Shree Krishna thus asks Arjun to surrender his intellect to Him, and fix his mind in exclusive loving devotion on Him alone.
Below mentioned verse explained in chapter 12 clearly explains about it
Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 12, Verse 3-4

sanniyamyendriya-grāmaṁ sarvatra sama-buddhayaḥ

Translation

BG 12.3-4: But those who worship the formless aspect of the Absolute Truth—the imperishable, the indefinable, the unmanifest, the all-pervading, the unthinkable, the unchanging, the eternal, and the immoveable—by restraining their senses and being even-minded everywhere, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all beings, also attain Me.

Commentary

Having said that worship of the personal form is the best, Shree Krishna clarifies that in no way does He reject the worship of the formless.  Those who devote themselves to the all-pervading, indefinable, unmanifest, inconceivable, immovable, eternal Brahman, also attain God.

Living beings are of an infinite variety of natures.  The Supreme Lord who has created this variety also possesses an infinite variety of aspects to His personality.  For the sake of our finite comprehension, we classify the infinite manifestations of God into categories.  Accordingly, Ved Vyas has classified God’s various manifestations into three types, Brahman, Paramātmā, andBhagavān, as mentioned in the commentary of the previous verse.  One may worship either of these categories, but one should never claim that one’s conception of God is the only correct one while those of the others are erroneous.

In verse 4.11, Shree Krishna had stated: “In whatever way people surrender unto Me, I reciprocate with them accordingly.  Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pritha.”  Here, Shree Krishna confirms that the worshippers of the formless also reach Him.  Since their choice is to unite with the attributeless manifestation of the Supreme Absolute Truth, God meets them as the unmanifest, all-pervading Brahman.

Astrological Analysis

Srila prabhupad Decoding Bhakti Yoga as per nadi astrology in Acharya Srila Prabhupada birth chart

Let me take the chart of Acharya Srila Prabhupada. He was born on September 1, 1896. In most of Nadi literature, time of birth ie., Lagna is not given. Importance is given to Jivakaraka Guru/Jupiter’s placement. There is no Dasa system, instead, we follow the progression of natal Guru/Jupiter every year to the next sign or Rashi. Here no lordships are not taken into consideration but only planetary Karakattwas are important. Planets which are in 2nd,12th,11th,5th,7th and 9th are most important. There are a lot of Karakattwas allotted to each planet. Anyhow for the reader’s information, the time of birth was 4 PM at Kolkata.
Bhakti yoga nadi astrology Srila Prabhupada Image Decoding Bhakti Yoga as per nadi astrology in Acharya Srila Prabhupada birth chart
Now in Acharya’s chart, Jivakaraka Guru was placed in Simha Rashi/Leo sign along with its Lord Surya/Sun and Ketu, the planet of renunciation/Tyagakaraka or Mokshakaraka. So this chart has Jeevatma Moksha Yoga ie., Jiva + Atma + Moksha Yoga a powerful Yoga which is in Simha Rashi which is Dharma Tattwa Rashi. Also please note that both Guru/Jupiter and Ketu are in the Nakshatra of Makha ruled by Kethu itself showing HE was born to renounce the world. Here Ketu will enter the next house of Karka Rashi which is the exaltation sign of Guru which is also a Moksha Tattwa Rashi indicating it was HIS last birth.2nd to these planets are Budha exalted  ( being born in Budha Hora )with Shukra ( Neecha Bhanga ). This clearly indicates he had Vak Siddhi Yoga.He became a big preacher and also a praiser of Lord Krishna. Now see this combination is in Karma Tattwa and in the same direction, we find exalted Chandra/Moon with Kuja/Mars. Please note that HE was born on Tuesday and the Janma Nakshatra was Mrigashira which was again ruled by Kuja/Mars. So Kuja is powerful in His chart.
Jivakaraka Guru is with Surya who is in his own house. Surya is the Karaka for father. So Acharya’s father was also a highly religious person along with His mother as Chandra, the Karaka for Mother is exalted who was a worshipper of Lord Krishna. Karma Karaka Shani is exalted in 3rd house from Jiva Karaka Guru + Surya + Ketu.12th from Shani is occupied by exalted Budha with Shukra. So His Karma is related to religious preaching, singing bhajans & spiritual activities related to Lord Krishna. Shani’s placement in Tula Rashi which is a Kaama Rashi but the planet is Karma Tattwa based, so Acharya’s main aim/desire in HIS life was Karma related to religious preaching, writings in praise of Lord Krishna. As Guru + Surya + Ketu are in Simha Rashi, HE was a Vedic scholar, also the planets 2nd to these planets ie., Budha + Shukra + Chandra + Kuja have given HIM what is called as
Bhakti Yoga.
Prabhupada discusses sense gratification morning walk Decoding Bhakti Yoga as per nadi astrology in Acharya Srila Prabhupada birth chart
Buddha in 2nd to Jiva Karaka Guru who is exalted in Kanya Rashi gave Him good education related to finance/economics etc. Also, Rahu who is in 7th to Guru indicates Foreign, so Acharya learnt the English language also and became proficient in that language.
Now 7th sign of Zodiac is Thula Rashi and is occupied by exalted Shani, so 7th house got afflicted. Also its lord Shukra/Venus is debilitated in Kanya/Virgo Rashi. So even though He is married, His married life was not smooth. Even though Shukra/Venus is debilitated, it gets Neechabhanga due to association with exalted Budha.
Jivakaraka Guru transits every Rashi for one year, so it completes 12 years when it comes to the previous house of Jivakaraka Guru/Jupiter in the chart. So when Jivakaraka Guru in his 2nd round when transiting over 9th from Shukra/Venus where Chandra and Kuja are there ie., during his 22nd year, HIS marriage took place. In Nadi literature, Surya has Karakattwa for father as well as for son also. This is mainly due to father is responsible for the issues in his family. So in Acharya’s chart, Surya is in his own place of Simha Rashi/Leo sign which is the most powerful sign along with Guru, so He had 2 male children. But now you see the longitude of Surya. He is in Simha 17 Degs.2’.He is moving to next sign within a few days where he meets Shukra/Venus. So even though He had 2 male children nobody helped Him and they were away from Him.
For renunciation, Ketu is the most important. Now see in 1922, the transits were Guru, Shani and Rahu were in Kanya and Ketu in Meena Rashi activating the natal Ketu which aspects Kataka Rashi through its previous house aspect. Shani, the Karma Karaka has decided what to do with this gentleman. He met with His spiritual Guru during this time. ( All the dates are between August and October as September 1, 1896, is His date of birth.)But He took spiritual initiation in 1933. Please check the transit of planets as on September 1, 1933.
For any spiritual initiation, Ketu’s transit is very important. Please see that during the 2nd round of Rahu-Ketu’s transit, Ketu was transiting over natal Jivakaraka Guru, Surya and especially Ketu. Karma Karaka Shani was retrograde and was in Makara Rashi. So he has to be considered from Dhanu also. Now see the planetary patterns are changed. It is like this: Shani ( R ) + Ketu acting on natal Jivakaraka Guru + Surya, the Atma Karaka and Natal Moksha Karaka Ketu. Even though He has not taken Sanyas, his spiritual activities have started from this period onwards.
Bhakti yoga Decoding Bhakti Yoga as per nadi astrology in Acharya Srila Prabhupada birth chart
So all the spiritual activities, lectures related to Lord Krishna, Bhagavatham etc.started from this period along with publications. But during 1959 ( between August and September ), He took complete Sanyas. See the planetary patterns. Transit Guru was in Vrischika Rashi, Shani ( R ) was in Dhanu and Ketu was in Meena Rashi. So these planetary positions made Him take complete Sanyas.
In 1965, September, when transit Guru was in Mithuna Rashi, Shani ( R ) was in Kumbha Rashi, Rahu was in Vrishbha Rashi and Ketu was in Vrischika Rashi ( But his progressed Guru/Jivakaraka Guru was in Vrishabha Rashi -70th year ), He travelled to the USA as per His Guru’s directives and in 1966, ISKCON – International Krishna Consciousness was started by Him.
On November 14, 1977, His Atma attained Moksha. On that day, Rahu-Kala/Mrityu was transiting over Kanya Rashi respecting its previous house where natal Guru, Surya and Ketu are there. Transit Ketu was in Meena Rashi aspecting its previous house of Kumbha Rashi which is in trine to Tula Rashi where Natal Shani is there. Thus there was the end of Karma and end of Jiva and Atma attained Moksha. Please go through His Punya chart below.
This is my 1st Nadi article written on this auspicious day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami and is completely dedicated to HIM. Without HIM,I am nothing in this Universe.

A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

timing of marriage in astrology 1 A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

Written & Researched by By H.Ramadas Rao
ॐ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः

After prostrating to my Nadi Guru Shri R.G.Rao, Acharya Madhva, my Kula Devatha and my Ishta Devatha,I am going to delineate a new method of predicting marriage as per Nadi Astrology.

We all know that marriages are made in heaven but some marriages are auspicious or happy marriages and some have difficult marriage life. Traditional Astrology uses Lagna based predictions. Here normally we consider 7th house from Lagna, its lord,2nd house and its lord and 11th house and its lord are considered along with Karaka of marriage, Shukra/Venus. But in Nadi Astrology, Guru/Jupiter is the karaka of Jeeva and indicates male natives. In female natives, Shukra/Venus is Stree/female Karaka but Jeeva Karaka remains the same ie., Guru/Jupiter. Already there is double transit theory of Guru/Jupiter and Shani/Saturn is famous and we can agree with this Sutra as an almost accurate method to predict a marriage.

Now let us know one thing is that Astrology is basically Indian whether it is traditional or Nadi Astrology. So now let us see the term Marriage.

Inter caste love marriage problem solutions by astrology A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

What is Marriage? It is a Karmic bond between a male and a female as agreed by the parents and relatives of both parties. Then the marriage engagement will be performed where the exact date of marriage will be fixed by the family priest/Astrologer.

Now next is on the marriage day, the bridegroom will tie what is called as Mangala Sutra to Bride. Now, what is this Mangala Sutra? As per our Shastras, Mangala Sutra is a Holi thread immersed in turmeric powder solution which is tied with a piece of turmeric. So this will be tied by the bridegroom to the bride’s neck. In modern days the Mangala Sutra is made up of small black beats with golden Tali ( 2 in numbers ).

Anyhow, let us come to the point that what is Mangala Sutra. It has a holy thread and a turmeric piece. The Karaka for Holy thread is Ketu and the Karaka for turmeric is Guru/Jupiter. This is because marriage is a spiritual event where Vedic Mantras are chanted followed by Havan. In the marriage after tieing the Mangala Sutra, both the bride and bridegroom have to walk 7 steps as advised by the priest which is called as Saptapadi. Now, who is the Karaka for this event? Again, Ketu. So the marriage will take place when transit Guru, Shani and Ketu transiting or aspecting natal Guru/Shukra and in a female chart, Kuja/Mars as he is Pati Karaka. So it is very clear that marriage event will not happen without the Blessings of Ketu. Sometimes transit Ketu will be in a Rashi whose Lord is connected to Karaka of Patni or Karaka of Pati ie., Shukra or Kuja. Sometimes on the marriage engagement day, the above said planets confirm the marriage.

wedding A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

To confirm this, let me try to explain through some real example charts below :

1) Male Chart :

J A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

This is the chart of a male who got engaged on 1/1/2006.

For the marriage to take place as per Nadi Astrology, transit Shani must be linked to Patni Karaka Shukra 1st, then transit Guru must be on natal Shukra or its trines. Finally transit Ketu must have a link to natal Shukra. This male native’s marriage engagement took place on 1/1/2006 at 16-30 Hrs.

Now let us see the planetary transits on this day.

Transit chart on 1/1/2006 at 16-30 Hrs.: Chart-2

Engagement 1 A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

Here transit Shani was in Karka Rashi but retrograde, so it must be considered from Mithuna Rashi also. So this Shani from Mithuna Rashi is in trine to natal Shukra in Tula Rashi. Next transit Guru was in Tula Rashi transiting over natal Shukra. Finally, transit Ketu was in Kanya Rashi which is in Kendra to Retrograde Shani whom we are considering from Mithuna Rashi. When this is the case, both Shani and Ketu are to be considered as in conjunction as per Nandi Nadi principles. Thus all the requirements for marriage were set.

Chart-3 Female Wife of the above male chart:

Now let us look at the female chart whom she got married to the male chart 1) :

A A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

In a female chart, for the purposes of marriage, we have to consider Kuja or Mangal. So in this chart, Kuja is placed in Dhanu Rashi. Her Jiva Karaka Guru is in Vrischika Rashi. In her chart, Shani, the Karma Karaka is exalted in Tula Rashi. Marriage is also a past life Karma. Transit Guru was transiting over Tula Rashi, hence over-exalted Shani. This transit Guru was also aspecting her natal Chandra indicating after the marriage she will move to a different place. Now transit Shani as it was retrograde in Karka Rashi will be considered from Mithuna Rashi also. So this retrograde Shani from Mithuna Rashi was directly aspecting Pati Karaka Kuja in Dhanu Rashi. Transit Guru in Tula Rashi was in 11th from Pati Karaka Kuja. Finally transit Ketu was in Kanya Rashi which was in Kendra to both transit retrograde Shani and Pati Karaka Kuja in Dhanu Rashi. So all the planetary arrangements were perfect for marriage.

The planetary configurations on the marriage engagement day were indicating the marriage will take place soon. So the marriage took place on 10/5/2006.

Here is the transit chart on 10/5/2006.: Chart-4 ( Marriage Chart-1 )

Marriage chart1 A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

In the marriage chart, transit Shani was in Kendra to Patni Karaka Shukra of the male chart, Guru was retrograde and was transiting over natal Shukra and transit Ketu was in Kanya Rashi whose sign dispositor Budha is with Patni Karaka Shukra in the male chart, thus satisfying all the conditions for the marriage.

When we consider female chart 2), transit Shani was in Karka Rashi whose powerful Kendra is in Mesha Rashi and the female chart’s Pati Karaka Kuja has a trinal aspect on Mesha Rashi. transit Guru ( retrograde ) was in 11th to Pati Karaka Kuja and transit Ketu was in Kendra to Kuja, thus satisfying all the conditions of marriage.

Let me take another 2 charts.

Chart-5 ) Male :

SS Male A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

In this male chart, Jiva Karaka Guru is exalted in Karka Rashi and Patni Karaka Shukra is exalted in Meena Rashi with Budha and Kuja. This trinal linking of Shukra with Guru indicates the marriage is promised.

Now let us look at the chart of his wife :

Chart-6 )

YS Female A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

In this chart,Jiva Karaka Guru is in Kumbha Rashi and 11th from him is Pati Karaka Kuja in Dhanu Rashi ruled by Guru.So the marriage is promised to this female native.

Now let us see the planetary arrangements on the day of marriage.

Chart-7, Marriage Chart-2 :

Marriage Chart 2 A new dimension in predicting marriage through nadi Astrology

Now considering the above transit chart in the case of male chart 5), transit Shani was retrograde in Kanya Rashi aspecting his natal Patni Karaka Shukra in Meena Rashi. Transit Guru was in Kumbha Rashi whose sign Lord Shani is in Simha Rashi ( Retrograde ). So considering this from previous house Karka Rashi,it is in trine to natal Patni Karaka Shukra. Finally, transit Ketu was in Mithuna Rashi which was in Kendra to natal Patni Karaka Shukra, thus satisfying all the conditions for the marriage.

Now let us consider the same transit chart for the female chart 6). Here transit Shani ( Retrograde ) in Kanya Rashi is in Kendra to Pati Karaka Kuja who is in Dhanu Rashi. Transit Guru in Kumbha was in 3rd from Pati Karaka Kuja in Dhanu Rashi whose Lord Guru is also in Kumbha Rashi. This means Pati Karaka Kuja’s sign Lord Guru is in Kumbha Rashi in her natal Chart and transit Guru was transiting over this Guru. Finally, transit Ketu which was in Mithuna Rashi was aspecting directly Pati Karaka Kuja in her natal chart, thus confirming all the conditions for the marriage.

Thus we can analyse or predict the marriage of a male native through the Patni Karaka Shukra and in female chart through Pati Karaka Kuja and the transits of Shani, Guru and Ketu linking to the said planets or their sign dispositors.

A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

A NADI RESEARCH TO PREDICT THE YEAR OF BRAHMOPADESHAM

By Ramadas Rao

What is Brahmopadesham

Brahmopadesham A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

Upanayana, also called “sacred thread ceremony”, is commonly known for being a Hindu Sanskar, rite-of-passage ritual, where the concept of Brahman is introduced to a young boy. The youngster is taught during the ceremony the secret of life through Brahmopadesam (revealing the nature of Brahman, the Ultimate Reality) also called the Gayatri manthra.

The hallmark of having gone through the Upanayana ceremony is the wearing of the Yajñopavita (Sacred Thread) on the body. Yajñopavita has three threads (actually only one thread, folded three times and tied together) each consisting of three strands.

These threads represent:-

  • Goddess Gayatri (Goddess of mind)
  • Goddess Saraswati (Goddess of word)
  • Goddess Savitri (Goddess of deed)

Upanayana makes the person receiving it a Dwija, a twice-born! The initiation is done by the Upadesam of the Gayathri manthra. The manthra is a universal prayer that can be used by men of all climes and creeds, for, it calls upon the Glorious Power that pervades the Sun and the three words to arouse, awaken and strengthen the Intelligence, so that it may lead to intense Sadhana and Sadhana may lead to success.

The main ceremonies during the Brahmopadesham are

  1. Nandhi Ceremony: It is performed generally just 10 days before the Upanayana to obtain the blessings of the family ancestors. Nandi in Sanskrit means the beginning, so with Nandi begins the actual rituals for the functions.
  2. Uthakashanth: Uthakashanthi is conducted for the purification of the mind and body and the protection of the child. All names of the deities are chanted in the form of mantras and invoked in water and then poured over the child
  3. Aajyabhaagaantha homam: It is a prayer to the God of Fire, Agni for the child’s long life, intellect, courage etc.
  4. Yagnopaveethadhaaranam: This is the core of the Brahmopadesham. The boy is anointed with the sacred thread. The thread has three strands symbolising the Goddesses Gayathri, Saraswathi and Savithri, combined with a knot symbolising God Brahma.
  5. Kumaarabhojanam: The boy’s mother feeds him before Brahmacharya with five different sweets made by her.
  6. Brahmopadesham: The Gayathri mantra is chanted in the boy’s ear by his father, his first Guru.
  7. Soorya Dharshan: The boy to be taken outside and shown the soorya, the sun god. This assumption here is that he will be protected by the sun god. The palms are clasped in such a way that it makes a peep hole to the sun god.
  8. Biksha-Charanam: The Brahmachari, who is now ready to recite the scriptures, and begins to do so, is offered food and shelter by the mother, householders and other ladies.

Bhrigu and Nandi Nadi leaves are thousand, thousands of years old and we know that our complete past, present and future are written there and with the help of right-hand thumb impression only predictions were made and even now in Kumbhakonam the Nadi readers are doing this as their career. But using traditional or Jaimini methods, it is difficult to predict some important matters like the exact happening of our Shodasha Karmas especially Brahmopadesham, Marriage , childbirth etc.

But Shri R.G.Rao has gone very deep into such palm leaves, discussed with many ancient Nadi Astrologers and decoded the methods of prediction using Nadi leaves. As I am an ardent student of Shri R.G.Rao, from last many years,I was doing some researches on Nadi Astrology and suddenly by the Blessings of our Nadi Guru,my lineage Guru ( Kashyapa Maharshi ),Acharya Shri Madhva,my Kula Devatha and Ishta Devata,I have found the method to predict when Brahmopadesham will take place.I was trying to find out from Vimshottari Dasa and Antar Dasas,Jaimini Rashi Dasa and Antar Dasas was trying to find out when such event will take place. Now by the Blessings of my Gurus and Devatas,I am going to delineate this secret Nadi method.

While making Nadi predictions, as per my studies, the planets’ Karakattwas will be taken and the corresponding events will be checked from transits of low moving planets Shani,Guru,Rahu/Ketu.After the male child’s birth, within 1st round of transit of Guru from natal Guru, the event will take place.1st round means after birth, from natal Guru, till the native reaches 12 years is called Guru’s 1st round. As per shodasha Karma rules, Brahmopadesham should be conducted within 11 years of birth of the male native.

As we know Ketu is the planet of spirituality and Vedic knowledge also.In the natal chart,Guru, the Jeeva Karaka is the native.Ketu is also the Karaka of Sacred Holy Thread ( Yajnopaveet ).So Ketu’s transit over natal Guru will make the native to take Brahmopadesham.Note natal Guru’s longitude and transit Ketu’s longitude.Ketu’s longitude must be within 3-5 Degs.of natal Guru’s longitude.

2nd rule is transit Guru must be in 10th house from native’s natal Guru. The reason is that here transit Guru works like result giver ( Phala Karaka )and 10th house is Karma Sthana. So from native’s Guru’s 10th house must be occupied by transit Guru.

Example chart 1A :

This male native was born on 14/10/1979 and natal Guru is at Simha Rashi 9 Degrees 15 Minutes and the native’s Brahmopadesham was conducted on 24/2/1989 at 9-50 AM.At that time transit Ketu in Transit chart 1B was in Simha Rashi 11 Degs.13’ and transit Guru was in Vrishabha Rashi which is 10th from native’s natal Guru.

Chart1a A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

Chart 1b A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

If we look into Vimshottari Dasa,it was Budha-Shukra-Guru running.Budha is 5th and 8th house lord placed in 9th house with Shukra who is 4th and 9th house Lord.Guru is the Lord of 2nd and 11th house placed in 7th with Rahu and Shani.By this we can not make out anything clear about the native’s Brahmopadesham.Only Budha, the lord of 5th and 8th house placed in 9th house with 9th house lord Shukra tells us that there will be some auspicious event. But Nadi Astrology tells us what will be that event and when it will take correctly.

Example Chart 2A :

Chart2a A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

chart2b A Nadi Research to predict the year of BRAHMOPADESHAM (Upanayana), Guru Deeksha

This male native was born on 22/10/2009 and the natal Guru was in Makara Rashi at 23Degs.19’ and is with Rahu. The native’s Brahmopadesham was conducted on 4/4/2018 at 10 : 58 AM.At that time transit Ketu in chart 2B was at Makara 17 Degs.51’.Here the difference in longitude was 5 Degs.28’ only and transit Guru was in Tula Rashi which is 10th from native’s natal Guru thus satisfying the 2nd rule also.

In this chart also,if we consider Vimshottari Dasa, it was Ketu-Chandra-Guru.Ketu is in 6th house with Kuja and Guru is in 12th house with Rahu. Here we can not even guess that the Brahmopadesham will take place at the date mentioned above. But Nadi Astrology helped us to predict the exact date of Brahmopadesham.

Yoga” is a Sanskrit word derived from the root “yuj” which means to yoke or join, and is used in Vedic astrology to indicate coming together of two or more grahas in a certain manner. There are numerous, and if I may say so, literally thousands of yogas that are given in the Vedic astrology texts. All Vedic astrologers, from the beginners to the most learned know about the “Pancha Maha Purusha” yogas. The yogas are based on the position of five planets and the literal meaning of “Pancha Maha Purusha yoga” is “five types of yogas that occur in birth-charts of great men” In Vedic astrology, we find many yogas having the same name but with different planetary combinations. Pancha Maha Purusha yogas, however, do not seem to suffer from allotment of its name to any other set of planetary combination.

Sage Parashara indicates the primacy of these yogas, by devoting a separate chapter to Pancha Maha Purusha yogas. As the very name implies the yoga arises due to certain positions of 5 different grahas. Sage Parashara describes the combination of grahas, bhavas and rasis that lead to the formation of Pancha Maha Purusha yoga and different names of the yogas related to the grahas causing them, beautifully, as under:

Shaloka 71 Panchmahapurushyoga 1 Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

I shall now define the indications of Pancha Mahapurusha. Kuja (Mars) etc. in strength and occupying their exaltation or own rasi occupy kendras, the Ruchaka, Bhadra, Hansa, Malvya and Shasha yoga occur in their natural order (Mangal, Budha, Guru Shukra, Shani).

Let us, now, look at how the individual yogas are said to manifest for the jataka according to Sage Parashara. I have not included the entire shlokas appearing in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, here for fear of making the text too bulky. I have only given part of what the Sage says, in bracket, where the indications given by the Sage may appear to be different from the commonly held perception amongst astrologers about nature of certain grahas. I trust this will also help astrologers to refrain from typecasting nature of grahas in a very narrow area, based upon one’s perception of interpretation of scriptures.

Ruchaka Yoga

One born in Ruchaka yoga has a longish face, is over zealous, radiant but polite, extremely powerful and with beautiful eyebrows. He has black hair, is of refined tastes, fond of battlefields and of dark complexion. He is a conqueror, intelligent, has height of hundred finger widths, is of proportionate body and of one thousand Tula weight. He can also be head of theives, of cruel temperament and slender of thighs. He has the signs of Veena (string instrument), Vajra (a type of sword), Dhanush (Bow), Pasha (noose), Chakra (disc) and Vrishabha (bull) signs in his hands. He is a worshipper of Brahmins, expert in Mantras for abhichara. He rules over Vindhya and Sahyadri regions and attains swarga by weapon or fire (dies on account of one of these reasons).

Bhadra Yoga

The jataka of Bhadra yoga is possessed of the radiance of a lion and has a well developed chest. His gait is slow and majestic, like an elephant. He has long and thick arms, is learned, intelligent and skilled in Yoga. He is of Satwa guna, has elegant feet, good moustaches and beard. He is of lustful nature (kamI/kämé) and has marks of Shankha (conch shell), Gada (mace), Shara (arrow), Elephant, Flag and Hala (plough) on his hands and feet. Possessed of a well shaped nose, he is an expert on weaponary, has black hair, is of independent nature and is protector of his family. He is of heavy weight (20 tulas), shares his wealth with friends for luxuries and spends a happy and comfortable life. He rules over Madhy Pradesha (Central region) and lives to 100 years of age.

Hamsa Yoga

Hamsa yoga is caused by Guru (Jupiter) ocupying a kendra, in own or exaltation rasi. A jataka of Hamsa yoga has a voice like that of Hamsa (swan), is fair with elevated nose and beautiful face. He has Kapha humor, eyes that are brown like honey, red nails and is possessed of a high level of intelligence. He has well formed cheek a round head and with beautiful feet he becomes a King. His palms and feet carry the marks of fish, goad (ankusha), Bow, Conch shell, Lotus, bed (khatwanga) etc. He is lusty and his lust is difficult to satisfy by his wife (ôI;u kamataeR nEit tuòtam!,/ stréñu kämärto naiti tuñöatäm|) He is 96 finger width tall, fond of water sports and rules the kingdom spread between the rivers Ganga (ganges) and Yamuna. Living for a hundred years and enjoying all pleasures on this earth, he attains death in a forest.

Malavya Yoga

Malavya yoga is caused by Shukra (Venus) ocupying a kendra, in own or exaltation rasi. A jataka born in Malvya yoga is possessed of beautiful lips, a thin waist and is of moon like (splendorous) complexion. He emanates a good smell, is somewhat fair, of medium structure and possessed of beautiful and clean teeth. His voice is like an elephant and his hands reach his knees. His face is 13 finger width long and 10 finger width wide. He lives upto 70 years of age, rules happily over Sindhu and Malwa countries and attains the abode of gods.

Shasha Yoga

Shasha yoga is caused by Shani (Saturn) ocupying a kendra, in own or exaltation rasi. A jataka of Shasha yoga has small teeth and a small face but is not of short strature (is fairly tall). He is possessed of valour, slim at waist, of beautiful thighs, intelligent and likes to wander over hills and forests. He knows the weak points of the enemies, is the leader of his army, with somewhat elevated (irreregular) teeth and is lively. He is knowledgeable in metallurgy, fond of women and able to usurp other’s wealth. His palms and feet carry the marks of Mala (rosary), Veena (a string
instrument), Mridunga (a purcussion instrument) and weapons. He rules over many parts of this earth with happiness and lives upto 70 years, attaining the abode of Gods.

Having understood the basic definition of the Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas, let us try to understand what makes it possible for such yogas to be able to deliver the results promised and how the results are to be applied to real life horoscopes. I am sure that most of the astrologers, both practising and the students, must have come across many horoscopes that did have the Pancha Maha Purush yogas. I am also sure they must also have been confused when they found that the results of the yogas, as indicated by the sages, have not fructified for many of the jatakas. This is the question that we shall try to address here. I shall try to give my interpretation of this anamoly. Those more knowledgeable than me, may like to find a more suitable interpretation if they think that my interpretation is not the right reason for failure of the Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas to fructify in a chart. As a matter of fact this may be a good subject for research for the learned, who could try to analyze about a 1000 charts in order to arrive at near correct reason for failure of fructification of Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas in a chart. I prefer to rely on the time-honoured method of presentation of any proposition based on Pramana (quotes from authoritative texts) and Tarka (logic) that was acceptable to the sages.

The first thing that strikes me, as it would any astrologer with an inquiring mind, is that even though results of five types of Maha Purusha yogas are given by the sages, each of the five planets can occupy a particular kendra in any of the three rasis, that is two of rasis owned by it and its exaltation rasi barring Mercury, whose exaltation and own rasi being Virgo, it can ocupy two rasis. There being 4 kendras in a chart, this means that there would be a minimum 56 variations of the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga capable of giving different results instead of the 5 results for the yogas, given to us by the sages. Thus each planet, excluding Mercury, can have 12 variations of the Panchmaha purusha yoga caused on its account. Mercury shall have 8 variations of Bhadra yoga caused by its presence in kendra. This will increase to 12 if we consider the exaltation of Mercury based on degrees traversed in Virgo as separate from its occupation of rest of the part of Virgo as a separate variation of the yoga. Should we do that, the total vaiations of the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga would be 60. It is obvious to even a person with reasonable knowledge of astrology, or for that matter any shastra, that the results for all the variations, for a particular planet cannot be identical. If we look at the shloka given by the sage Parashara again, we find that the sage does say that the planets have to be possessed of strength (biliÉí-balibhiçca). I find support in Kalyan Varman when he states in Saravali on commenting on the Pancha Maha Purusha yoga as under:

Shaloka 37 Panchmahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

When the yoga is caused on account grahas like Bhauma (Mars) etc. in strength, one gets kingdom. But if, simultaneously, Suyra and Chandra are bereft of strength then the yoga for kingdom does not occur but one does get progeny and wealth during the Dasha of the yoga causing graha.

Each of the planets, causing any variation of the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga, will be generally treated to be strong on account of occupation of both a kendra and own or exaltation rasi therefore the meaning of strength, referred to here by the sages, needs to be understood in proper perspective. Since each of the planets achieve digbala in different kendra as are they bereft of it in others, it stands to reason that a planet conferring a Pancha Maha Purusha yoga, will not have same amount of strength while posited in any of the 4 kendras that it can occupy. Again we find that the planets involved have ownership of one male and one female rasi and they are themselves either male, female or eunuch. We also know that though shubha planets give greater shubha results when they attain strength, not all ashubha or papa planets have elevated malfeasance as a result of gaining strength. Saturn is said to give least malefic results, when he is endowed with strength and greater malefic results when bereft of strength.

Kalyanvarman is Saravali tells us this unambiguously when he says:

Shaloka 12 Panchmahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

When grahas are strong in a horoscope, related bhavas and their indications (like Atma, Mana, Satwa, Vacha, Gyaana, Veerya and sorrow, as well as the benefic and malefic nature of the relevant grahas) are realized with more and more strength. If the grahas become weak the related indications suffer. In case of Shani reverse is true.

This means that if Shani is strong, sorrow does not increase but it decreases.

Similarly, Guru is said to distort (æò ) or harm one of the indications of the bhava he occupies, so in strength, he might harm the bhava occupied though he will give excellent results of the bhavas that he aspects and good results of the other indications of the bhava occupied. Many modern astrologers find it difficult to accept this position. I have seen the dictum coming true every time. But this being a principle on which there are divergent opinions, I would like to give an old shloka, often quoted by my father and astrologers of his generation, leaving the acceptance or otherwise of the said principle to the better judgement of the learned.

Shaloka 11 Panchmahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

Guru occupying lagna in Lord Rama’s horoscope made him get banished to forests by his father, Guru in 3rd bhava caused the King Bali being sent to Patala (abode of Asuras- netherland under water) by lord Vishnu, 4th bhava occupied by Guru in King Harishchandra’s chart took away his kingdom, Dushshaasana (one of the Kauravas in Mahabharata) tried to strip Draupadi’s clothes on account of Guru occupying 6th bhava in her chart, King Ravana died (in war with Lord Rama) on account of Guru occupying 8th bhava, Guru occupying the 10th bhava in King Duryodhana’s chart resulted in his death at the hands of Bhima in Mahabharata, and Pandavas were sent to forest on account of their defeat in Dyuta (a type of gambling game of the Kings) on account of occupation of 12th bhava in Yudhishthira’s chart.

So the interpretation of the Pancha Mahapurusha yogas will have to be modified taking into consideration these additional factors. Next are the injunctions about some of the planets being incapable of giving (beneficial) results in certain kendra positions. The two benefic that come to mind are Mercury in the 4th and Venus in the 7th bhava.

Jataka Paarijata says:

Shaloka 52 Panchmahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

Budha in the 4th house, Guru in 5th house and Shukra in 7th house, cause trouble to those houses. Shani gives good results in the 8th house.
So, even here, the results of “Pancha Mahapurusha” yoga would not be felt prominently and in accordance with the texts. Similarly, Mars in 7th, Saturn in Lagna, Mercury in the 7th bhava are said to be in Marana sthanas if aspected by or associated with malefics or grahas in debility as indicated by the definition of Maranasthana given in Jataka Parijata:

Shaloka 35 Panchmahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

Shaloka 36 PanchMahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

For Jupiter the 3rd house, Mars the 7th, Saturn the Lagna, Rahu the 9th, Moon the 8th, Sun the 12th, Mercury the 7th and for Venus the 6th house are called the marana sthana. If these planets, placed there, are also aspected or conjoined by a malefic or debilitated planet, an indication of these sthanas are harmed. One should understand that if the planet so aspecting/conjunct is only malefic some bad indication of the Marana bhava are experienced, and when the malefic is also an enemy of, or in debilitation, more harm to the indication of the Marana sthana house indicated.

So these grahas, in those sthanas (house/place), may again not deliver the results of Pancha Mahapurusha yoga, regarding making one a king over large tract of land in a chart, if aspected or conjunct malefics. Thus we find many reasons that could result in the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga not getting fructified. It is interesting to see the opinion of Mantreshwara, in Phaladeepika, regarding Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas.

Shaloka 64 PanchMahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

If these grahas (capable of giving Pancha Maha Purusha yoga) are also placed in kendra from Chandra (moon) simultaneously, the yoga becomes capable of making one an emperor and possessed of great bhagya (luck).

He has initially given different results of the “Pancha Mahapurusha yoga” that exclude becoming a king of the level indicated by Parashara, barring in a few cases. He then goes on to say that if the graha causing the Pancha Maha Purusha yoga also happens to be in kendra to Chandra simultaneously, such as yoga is capable of bestowing Samrajya (becoming an emperor) and great bhagya(luck). Mantreshwar’s opinion appears to be based on very logical application of principles of Vedic astrology, since Chandra will be getting sthana bala, occupying a kendra, and will be paraspara karaka to both the lagna and the graha concerned the results would be more prominent.

There is another matter that needs attention of the learned and that is about what happens when more than one Pancha Maha Purusha yogas is present in a chart. As in many matters of astrological principles, there are two opinions here too. One school of thought thinks that all the yogas will fructify in the dashas of each of the planets causing the multiple yogas in the chart. Another school of thought is of the opinion that only the strongest of the multiple yogas will fructify in that particular graha’s period. I tend to agree with the later opinion, as I do with the opinion of Mantreshwar about the yoga causing needing to be in kendra to both Lagna and chandra to give a large kingdom to rule over, or its equivalent power to be wielded by the jataka.

Let us look at the chart of Lord Ramachandra, generally accepted to be the right chart by astrologers, to find out whether this principle applies.

Horoscope of Lord Ramchandra

Shiri Ram Chandra Chart Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

We observe, here, that there are three “Pancha Maha Purusha” yogas in the chart that is:

1) The Hamsa yoga caused by an exalted Guru occupying Karka (cancer) rasi, in Lagna.
2) Shasha yoga caused by Shani in exaltation occupying Tula (Libra) rasi in the 4th bhava
3) Ruchaka Yoga caused by exalted Mangal in Makara (Capricorn) rasi ocupying the 7th bhava

Amongst these, the condition of the grahas causing Pancha Maha Purusha yoga of being in kendra to both Lagna and Chandra is satisfied as Chandra occupies the Lagna. So, there is hardly anything to choose between the grahas to give an indication of how and which of the yogas will fructify. However we find the Parashara injunction of the graha with strength giving rise to the yoga unfolding here. We find that Guru is possessed of full digbala occupying the lagna which is rasi of its friend and in exaltation, whereas Shani is with 50% digbala and Mangala is not only with 50% digbala but also occupies its marana karana sthana and whereas Saturn occupies the house of its friend, Mars occupies rasi of its sama/neutral graha. We also observe that Shani is lord of the 7th and the 8th ,both Dusthanas, thus weakening the effects of its occupation of a kendra as the 8th lord weakens the house it occpies and 7th bhava is Maraka sthana. Mangal could have qualified for the yoga by reason of being the 5th and 10th lord and therefore a yoga karaka but for the fact of its occupation of its Marana sthana.

We are also aware, of the basic Parashari dictum, that if either an exalted or debilitated graha aspects the lagna, Raj Yoga takes place. Thus lagna and by implication its lord Chandra become strong, concentrating all strength in the yoga occuring in the Lagna. That dispositor of Guru, Chandra occupies own rasi in a kendra and is possessed of Paksha bala also renders strength to the effects of Guru. So there is no doubt that Guru will give the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga attributed to it which is the Hamsa yoga.

However, as we discussed earlier, Guru who caused the Pancha Maha Purusha yoga also resulted in Lord Rama being banished to forests by his father (Guru is lord of the 9th). We also see here

that Saturn, the slow one, aspecting the Lagna and Guru caused the results of the yoga to fructify at a late stage in Lord Rama’s life. That Mars also aspects the said Guru also indicated the difficulties that the Lord had to face before the yoga fructified for him. There are also many other implications of the planets in the chart, but I am sure I need not explain them to this gathering of knowledgeable astologers. I hope this analysis of the chart of Prabhu Ramchandra will help illustrate to the students, as also the learned, why even with powerful Pancha Mahapurusha yoga present in a chart, it is better to analyze the horoscope in its entirety, before looking at the final results that the yoga is likely to deliver to a jataka.
The reason is that in the horoscope of Lord Ramchandra, since there are multiple Pancha Mahapurusha yogas, the yoga in his chart which is in strength only fructified and he ruled over a kingdom between Ganga and Yamuna rivers, as indicated in the indications of Hamsa yoga, by Parashara.

At this point of time I must make it clear that it is not necessary that a jataka of Hamsa yoga will always rule over that region. The regions are only indicative of the directions related to a strong graha taking a person to its own direction at the time of operation of its dasha. Even here it may be the dispositor of the graha causing the yoga or its Navamsha dispositor’s position that may have to be considered if we are to follow the astrological principles in their entirety. One must remember that Vaidyanaath in Jataka Paarijata gives different regions and so does Mantreshwara in his Phaladeepika. That lord Ramchandra did rule over the area indicated by Parashara may in fact indicate that he ruled the kingdom in the northeast direction of the known world, at the time of his rule, as Guru does indicate the Northeast. I would like to enjoin upon astrologers, at this point of time to try to understand the principles being given by the sages instead of insisting that the yogas occur verbatim since they are so given by Sage “A” or by Sage “B” as is the fashion these days. Astrologers can understand this best in discussions of Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas as we find Kings in other countries who do have Pancha Maha Purusha yoga in their horoscopes.

Let us see the Chart of Sadaam Hussain, the ruler of Iraq, who could be equated to ancient day kings.

Saddam Hussain Chart Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

We see here that Shukra occupying the 10th bhava and being in exaltation causes the Malavya Yoga. He ruled Iraq, certainly not mentioned as amongst the countries indicated in the classics. Yet the Yoga did operate. We find Saddam becoming President of Iraq in 1979 when the Maha dasha of Shukra and antar dasha of Shani was operating. According to Ududaaya Pradeep, Shani gives results of Shukra in its own Antar dasha within the Mahadasha of Shukra and the Malavya yoga thus fructified at the right time. There are many other yogas in the charts, no doubt, however, for the present we are only concentrating on the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga occurring with the variation that the graha causing it is conjunct other graha.

Let us now look at another chart of a king, with Ruchaka yoga and Shasha yoga occurring simultaneously in the chart. The chart belongs to King Alexander I, the Czar of all Russia.

Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

We again find him getting to rule Russia, not mentioned in the texts. So I would advise caution in basing one’s predictions on literal applications of any results that are given for the jataka in any of the many numbers of yogas that are given in classics on astrology. The sages gave certain principles that are to be applied with viveka to a chart. The specifics mentioned in the yogas are by way of illustration of the strength of the yogas and this must be understood by all of us.

We observe that both Mangal and Shani are of almost equal strength, though Shani is endowed with more strength as it occupies the most powerful of the kendra in the rasi of its bosom friend, whereas Mangal occupies rasi of a graha that is “Sama” to him. We also observe that Guru aspects the Mooltrikona of Shani strengthening it and, by implication, its lord Shani who also happens to be the lagna Lord. Alexander the 1st ascended the throne in March 1801 on the death of his father Czar Paul I on 12th March 1801. Pratyantar dasha of Rahu was running at that time and we know “Manda sama Rahu” thereby giving results of Shani and operation of Shasha yoga in his case.

It is interesting to see that in both the cases the jatakas did not enjoy kingdom till end of their life, Saddam being deposed and Alexander I, Czar of Russia, is rumored to have left for Serbia to become a Hermit. What we see common here is that in both cases the Pancha Maha Purusha yogas occur only from Lagna and Chandra is not in kendra from lagna and the grahas. Thus this may support what Mantreshwara tells about the yoga gaining strength if it is simultaneously occurring with respect to Chandra as it does with respect to Lagna. I would be the first to admit that this sample size is too small to come to a definite conclusion. However this is one area that the learned may like to explore with support of data of jatakas in similar circumstances with charts numbering at least 200 or more to come to any definite conclusion. That the sages, in connection with any of the Pancha Maha Purusha yoga, have not mentioned these countries and yet the yoga has given them rulership over a country is supportive of my contention that the sages gave us certain principles that must necessarily be applied with viveka (sense of proportion).

Before I close, I give a shloka from Chandra Kala Nadi for the learned to ponder over:

Shaloka 27 Panchmahapurushyoga Decoding Panch MahaPurusha Yoga

When Shani aspects or conjoins Guru, then the results of Malavya yoga are not realized. The effects of Shukra being in exaltation are harmed on account of harm caused by the graha (Shani – but I think this may also include malefics).

This is the translation that appears in Chandra Kala Nadi AKA Deva Keralam. This is a very interesting concept since at first glance, there is no harm to the house occupied by Shukra or Shukra himself, barring, when Shukra occupies the 10th bhava, and yet the yoga does not fructify on account of conjunction or aspect between Guru and Shani. It is interesting to note that the exaltation state of Shukra is being referred to here, indicating, perhaps that the author of the Nadi did not give much weight to grahas occupying kendra in own rasi for considering occurrence of Pancha Maha Purusha yoga, restricting himself only to graha in exaltation in kendra when considering the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga.

Personally, I think that the reference is to Shani being placed in the 8th bhava which is also referred to as the Cchidra bhava, while aspecting Guru and Shukra in exaltation causing the Pancha Maha Purusha yoga is the condition about which the nadi author is talking. If we accept my premise then Shani will be aspecting the 10th ,the 2rd and the 5th bhava of the chart in either of which Guru will have to be placed in order to get aspect of Shani. With Guru’s nature of harming the bhava occupying and Shani doing the same with aspect, it is easy to see why the Malvya yoga caused by Shukra occupying its exaltation rasi will be broken.

Further analysis will show us that the lagna will have to be of one of the rasis owned by Budha or Guru, for Shukra to cause Malavya yoga while occupying its exaltation rasi. So in this case, Guru will be attracting Kendradhipati dosha and Shani will own at least one of the trika, trishadaya or Maraka sthana, thus the harm to the houses to which they relate would be greater thus causing the Malavya yoga to break. We also observe that Shukra will also own one dusthana with these lagnas.
Another interpretation of the word Cchidra could be the 9th bhava as the word refers to the nine Cchidra of the body. In that case, the indication is occupation of a trine from Shukra causing Malavya yoga being occupied by a malefic causing the yoga going waste. Personally I think that this principle of a malefic in trine to a graha causing a yoga wasting away the results obtained on account of that yoga, can be applied to other grahas as well. We can see the operation of this principle in charts of both Saddam Hussain and Alexander I Czar of Russia.

An additional reason for Shani conjunct or aspecting Guru causing break of Malavya yoga appears to be connected with the fact of Shani alone in 9th bhava and unaspected is said to lead to Pravrajya and aspect of Shani on Guru is also said to be indicative of one who is more focused on improvement of one’s soul, at the very least, if not pursuit of knowledge of the Para Brahman; than on one’s bank balance.
The wording of the shloka, to me, appears to suggest that the jataka will get the results of the yoga but would cause it to go waste on account of his own deeds or way of thinking.

I thank all of you for having given the patient reading to my thoughts on Pancha Maha Purusha yoga and would like to submit that these are my personal thoughts and those more knowledgeable than me may hold a different view on this subject. If I cause the learned to think about the texts in more depth, instead of only memorizing the texts, I would have succeeded in my efforts to bring more rationality to this divine science of Vedic Astrology.

RAJA YOGA as per Rao’s system of nadi Astrology

Raja Yoga in nadi astrology RAJA YOGA as per Rao's system of nadi Astrology

RAJA YOGA AS PER RAO’S SYSTEM OF NAADI ASTROLOGY

                   By H.Ramadas Rao

ॐ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः

With the Blessings of Acharya Madhva,My Kula Devatha ,my Ishta Deavatha and Shri R.G.Rao,I would like to write a topic on Raja Yoga as per Rao’s System of Naadi Astrology.

As per traditional Astrology, there are many planetary combinations for Raja Yoga. For that one has to see from Lagna, the different planetary combinations. But in Naadi Astrology,it is planetary combinations or 2-12 to each other or aspects, one can able to see the Raja Yoga in a birth chart. Now let us which planets are responsible for richness and all types of luxuries.

For any kind of richness, the Karaka for wealth Shukra is very important. His combination with other planets give richness Yoga. Here the 1st planet is Shani  or Saturn. If Shukra is combined with Shani or in Kendra to each other, especially if Shani, the Karma Karaka is placed in 10th from Shukra, that will be the excellent Raja Yoga with richness.2nd planet with Shukra is Kuja or Mars.Kuja is Bhumi Putra or the Karaka for lands also along with other Karakas.

So if Shukra is with Kuja or aspect each other and in 3-11 to each other, such native will have expensive landed properties. The 2rd planet is Ketu. One may be surprised to see how Ketu becomes a Karaka for richness.Ketu is an indicator of root or base. Now Shukra is also Karaka for Padma or lotus. So Shukra + Ketu indicates lotus with its root to the bottom most portion of the earth.Shukra is also an indicator of Dravya or wealth.Ketu indicates root,so this means the native will have enormous wealth which can not be counted. This  combination if Ketu is placed in Vrischika Rashi and Shukra placed in 7th ie.,in Vrishabha Rashi or is in trine to Vrischika Rashi ie., Meena Rashi. This last combination indicates a multi billionaire Yoga.

The next is richness with Raja Yoga and this is formed by the combination of Surya + Kuja + Budha + Guru which are in 11th from Karma Karaka Shani. The last combination for richness Yoga is the combination of Shukra + Rahu either in 11 to Karma Karaka Shani or in 2 /12/7th to Shani.

Now let me try to analyse some charts for learning purposes :

  • Birth chart of Shri Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara. His date of birth is 16/2/1471.Time of Birth is not known.Place of Birth is Hampi ( Near Bellary,Karnataka ).

When we do Nadi method of analysis, first Jeeva karaka has to be identified. He is placed in Kanya Rashi but Retrograde.Guru is with Chandra indicating his ancestors migrated to this place of Hampi.Guru + Chandra is in trine to Kuja + Budha + Shukra in Makara Rashi. Here again Shukra is in Parivarthana with Shani who is in Vrishabha Rashi. So the combination will be Kuja + Budha + Shukra + Shani. So it is very clear from this chart that he is a warrior ( Kuja exalted ),intelligent and rich also through his Karma. Now consider Guru in Simha Rashi ( as he is retrograde ) who is aspecting directly Surya.By this this native has Jeevatma Samyoga and in this particular case as

Chart1 RAJA YOGA as per Rao's system of nadi Astrology

Chart2 RAJA YOGA as per Rao's system of nadi Astrology

He is a king, this Yoga is also known as Raja Pratapa Yoga. This is mainly because Jeeva Karaka Guru is connected with exalted Kuja and also with Surya who is the sign dispositor of retrograde Guru.Next when Shukra by exchange goes to his own house of Vrishabha Rashi,so Shani goes to his own house of Makara Rashi. When Shukra comes to his own house of Vrishabha Rashi,Ketu is in 12th to him along with Surya. So it is a very clear indication that his lineage or Vamsha is very rich.Final point is that exchanged Shukra from Vrishabha Rashi is in trine to Kuja + Budha + Shani + Guru + Chandra. So it is a very clear case of Raja Yoga and multi billionaire Yoga.

  • This chart belongs to Shri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar of Mysore. He was born in July 18,1919 at 18 : 30 Hrs.at Mysore.

JCWodeyar RAJA YOGA as per Rao's system of nadi Astrology

In his chart,Jeeva Karaka Guru is placed in Karka Rashi whose Lord Chandra is placed in Meena Rashi. So Guru is having an exchange with Chandra. So the combination of the planets in Karka Rashi will be Surya + Chandra + Budha + Guru + Rahu .Kuja is the sign dispositor of Budha. So Budha will give the results of Kuja also. Now next in Surya’s own house Simha Rashi, there are Shukra + Shani. This means both Shukra and Shani can give the results of Surya. So this clearly indicates he was a king and a multi billionaire. As an addition to this analysis,Surya, the sign lord of both Shukra + Shani is aspected by Rahu who is his great enemy. So eventhough he was a king, his kingship was removed. But he got all the respects of a king till his death. Also eventhough Surya is placed with Guru, due to exchange Guru goes to his own place and Chandra comes to his own house of Karka Rashi which is a Jala Tattwa Rashi. So he was not able to have any male progeny but only adopted son due to exchanged Guru is in trine to Surya with Chandra + Budha + Surya.

Here one more point is that in Surya’s own house Simha Rashi,Shukra + Shani are placed who are considered as female planets.Hence no male progeny.

So by using carefully Karakattwas of planets and their position in different Rashis,it is possible to analyse any charts correctly.

Understanding Allergies in Ayurveda

What does Ayurveda say about Allergies?

A1 Understanding Allergies in Ayurveda

Written and Researched by Dr V.D Singh

The immune system is the defence mechanism of your body against certain bacteria, viruses etc. which may harm you. But sometimes when this defense mechanism starts fighting with the substances with which it shouldn’t, the condition is called Allergy. Such substances, found in dust mites, animal dander, pollen, insects, ticks, moulds, foods, some medicines etc., are called allergens and are completely harmless for most people.

An allergic reaction begins when an allergen (for example pollen) enters the body of a person, who is allergic to that particular allergen and triggers the release of antibodies. These antibodies attach themselves to special cells, called mast cells. When this allergen (pollen) comes into contact with the antibodies, the mast cells respond by releasing histamine and other chemicals.

Allergy may be atopic (inherited) or acquired. The allergens may hit your eyes, nose, sinus, skin, stomach, bowels, lungs etc and may cause conjunctivitis, allergic rhinitis, urticaria (hives), eczema, allergic asthma, etc and sometimes may result into anaphylaxis – a serious situation which may put your body into shock.

Antihistamines, intranasal corticosteroid nasal sprays etc may provide the symptomatic relief but the episodes may recur once you get exposed to that particular allergen again.

Allergy and Ayurveda

A2 Understanding Allergies in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, Allergy is described as Asatmya. Asatmya literally means Intolerance or Incompatibility or Unsuitability.

In other words, Asatmya is that “which doesn’t suit the self” and ‘self’ here includes mind, body and soul. Pathophysiologically, Allergy is a condition in which either of the doshas ( Vata, Pitta & Kapha), individually or in unison, refuses to accept and adjust with some specific change in diet or environment and as a result, react against the causative factor.

Apart from doshas, misbalanced Agni (Digestive Fire) and hence produced ama (toxins) play a pivotal role in allergic reactions.

The Ayurvedic treatment puts emphasis on clinical observations of signs and symptoms of Allergy. The first line of treatment being  Nidan Parivarjanam  – to avoid the cause.

The causative factors may include any of the substances discussed above. However it is not always possible to evade the cause and sometimes even the patient himself is not aware of the allergen; hence, an all-inclusive Ayurvedic treatment is required.

It includes Shamana Chikitsa (Palliative treatment), and once the acute symptoms subside, Shodhana Chikitsa (Detoxification program or Panchakarma) is done to avoid the recurrence.

By and large Ashwagandha, Shatawari and Yashtimadhu are good herbal antihistamines for Vata, Pitta and Kapha  type of Allergy respectively but Ayurveda believes in individualized approach towards a patient and disease.

 Seasons and Allergy

A3 Understanding Allergies in Ayurveda

There are certain seasonal allergies which are described as per Ayurveda those are further connected to the state or changes in the season regimen of the earth at that time, means according to the rituachrya.

Ayurveda further states that season trigger allergies due to ‘doshas’ that are involved. To find a treatment, it is important to determine the aggravated ‘dosha’.

Vata types of allergies are caused due to dryness. Symptoms includes dry cough with dry phlegm, insomnia and anxiety. It gets worse in dry or windy environments and also during autumn.

Pitta type allergies cause excessive heating such as burning eyes, rashes and loose stools. The condition usually worsens during summers.

Kapha allergies develop due to moist, humid conditions and worsen during spring time as the weather warms up. It shows up as cloudy or clear mucus production and slow digestion. You should follow a liquid diet of liquefied fruits and vegetables once a week.

For curing allergies with Ayurveda, we must focus on cleansing the body off the toxins and boosting the immune system. If the allergies last all year long, it is advisable to visit an ayurvedic practitioner for proper guidance and diet plan.

How to Cure Allergies with Ayurveda

  • We must avoid heavy foods such as dairy, meats and nuts.
  • We should do hearty lunch and opt for a very light dinner.
  • Drinking plenty of warm water would be much relaxing.
  • Exercising daily.
  • Yoga breathing exercise would be good for relaxing the mind and body.
  • Allergies are worsened with intense stress. Stress causes disturbance in sleep which in turn aggravates the allergy. One must get adequate sleep to avoid allergies.
  • Applying Herbal oil massage enhances blood circulation in the body. This leads to the removal of chemical toxins which might be causing the allergy.

Conclusion

Hence Ayurveda can better deal with the Allergies and we must adhere it according to seasonal regimen, food and taste and for better results one must consult an Ayurveda consultant for complete relief from Allergy.
